Ameristar Casinos signs agreement with union for proposed Springfield facility

SPRINGFIELD - Ameristar Casinos on Thursday announced that it has signed a deal with the Pioneer Valley Building and Construction Trades Council of Springfield and Carpenters Local 108 to help build its proposed casino resort off Page Boulevard in Springfield.

Ameristar is among several companies seeking the lone Western Massachusetts casino license from the state.

Mohegan Sun, which is proposing a casino for Palmer, last year signed a similar agreement to use workers from the same unions if it wins the license.
